Hello loves! It’s cold/flu/Covid/under-the-weather season and I’ve been dreadfully ill (and clearly watching too much Downtown Abbey).
I’m bummed I haven’t been able to keep my “post every week” promise because I’ve been insanely unwell but 1. I will continue the effort into October and 2. I have been creating in some *very* small ways.
For one reason or another, we’ll all be sick at some point in our lives, so I thought I’d at least share a small list of things you can do while having very little energy and remaining vertical.
Creative things to do when you’re sick:
Write a list of creative ideas to carry out when you are not so sick.
Color in a coloring book or doodle in any margin you can find.
Make a homemade tea or infusion. My go-to mixture as of late has been hibiscus, ginger, elderberry, anise and chamomile. I buy my organic herbs from Shmerbals Herbals on Etsy.
Make a simple soup. Even bone broth and rice with ginger and turmeric can make you feel quite accomplished (admittedly I have yet to feel well enough to accomplish this).
Write or take voice notes of your experiences or thoughts. Being sick always dredges up deep feelings and memories for me.
Take photos of anything and everything. Your snuggly fur baby providing comfort. Your soup. Your view out the window or from bed. Your mismatched socks. Your new pimple.
Choose colorful comfies to wear.
Make a mood board or collage.
Write a list of books or movies you’d like to watch.
Plan future outfits in your head or on your phone.
Craft! Knit, crochet, make friendship bracelets.
Make a playlist.
Write a list of aspirational recipes.
Make a decorated piece of delicious toast.
Edit a video of things and moments that make you happy.
Do a crossword puzzle.
Draw a bath and add some ingredient that makes it feel more luxurious and thoughtful like a candle, essential oils, salts, petals for softness with self.
Write a list and pass it off as a newsletter 😉
Anything you’d add to the list? Leave it in the comments!
None of these creations need to be shared, sold, rated, reviewed or the like. They’re simply suggestions of things you can do to make you feel better. Perhaps you’ll feel better not doing any of these things! Goddess knows I did absolutely nothing except exist in front of the TV for 6 days straight.
Take care, give yourself grace, and happy equinox! ❤️🍁🍂🍎
